Directions, Parking and Maps
Iowa Methodist Medical Center & Blank Children's Hospital Campus
Our goal is to make your visit as easy and convenient as possible. If you need directions or other information, please ask any employee or volunteer. Employees can be identified by their photo ID badge, and volunteers wearing blue jackets are stationed throughout the hospital to help you.
Directions to Iowa Methodist Medical Center/Blank Children's Hospital
- Exit I-235 at Keo Way south.
- Follow Keo Way south to 12th Street.
- Turn right on 12th Street and follow the road up the hill to the Iowa Methodist/Blank Children’s campus.
- Visitor parking is available on the north and south sides of the campus, or in the parking ramp on the west side of the campus.
- Take Fleur Drive north to Ingersoll Avenue (Fleur Drive will become MLK Jr. Parkway shortly before reaching Ingersoll).
- Turn right on Ingersoll Avenue and continue to 15th Street.
- Turn left on 15th Street and continue north to Pleasant Street.
- Turn right on Pleasant Street.
- Visitor parking is available on the north and south sides of the campus, or in the parking ramp on the west side of the campus.
Patient Registration
- North 1 Patient Registration. Most patients arriving for outpatient tests and labs need to register at Patient Registration on north 1, near the main entrance (entrance #2).
- Surgery Center Patient Registration. Patients having a surgical procedure, cath lab procedure or cardiovascular or neurological test, must register in the Surgery Center on East A (entrance #7).
Surgery Center
The Iowa Methodist Surgery Center is located on level A of the East Wing of the hospital. Patients having a surgical procedure, cath lab procedure or cardiovascular or neurological test, must register in the Surgery Center (entrance #7).
We recommend parking on the first floor of the parking ramp at the bottom of the hill from the surgery center.
Education & Research Center
The Education & Research Center (ERC) is located on level 1 of the Iowa Methodist Parking Garage. The Iowa Methodist Parking Garage is located on the west side of the Iowa Methodist campus, on the corner of Pleasant St. and 14th Place. We recommend parking in the Iowa Methodist Parking Garage and take the South parking garage elevators to the first floor. After exiting the elevator, you will be in the ERC. You may also enter the ERC from the Woodland Avenue entrance.
Please Note: The entrance from Woodland Avenue is only open until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please use the entrance from the Iowa Methodist Parking Garage after 6 p.m. and on the weekends.
Dorner - Villeneuve Simulation Education Center
The Simulation Education Center is located on Level 2 of the Education and Research Center (ERC).
Directions from I-235 in Des Moines:
- Take the Keo Way exit 7 and go south.
- Turn right onto 12th Street.
- Turn right onto Pleasant Street.
- Follow the road to the Visitor Parking Ramp to park.
- Park on Level 5 of the Visitor Parking Ramp – Bay E, F, or G.
- Take the south elevator (the set of elevators in the back side of the parking ramp) to Level 2.
- Once off the elevator turn right and you will arrive at the Simulation Center.
