Government & External Affairs

The Government & External Affairs team supports public policy, regulatory affairs, state and federal government relations and community benefit and economic impact on behalf of our health system. Our team helps elected officials, government agencies, health and advocacy organizations, media outlets and communities have a clear understanding of UnityPoint Health, our mission and the full spectrum of services we provide, as well as our economic impact on those we serve.

Accountable Care Organization (ACO)

Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) are groups of doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers who voluntarily give coordinated, high-quality care to their patients. Our ACO has a goal to deliver better health for patients and better health care for communities — at the best value. When an ACO succeeds in delivering high-quality care and spending healthcare dollars more wisely, it may share in the potential savings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

UnityPoint Health Foundations generate resources for the sustainability and advancement of health care in our communities throughout Iowa and Wisconsin. Millions of dollars of contributions, generously donated by individuals and organizations alike, have helped finance valuable health programs and technologies that ensure the best outcome for every patient, every time. As the delivery of health care evolves, our foundations continue to fund new modes of patient care provided in our not-for-profit hospitals, clinics and other facilities.
