High-Risk Pregnancy Care in Cedar Rapids

UnityPoint Clinic Maternal Fetal Medicine in Cedar Rapids provides specialized care for pregnant individuals who have high-risk pregnancy and fetal conditions. We also assess patients in pre-conception counseling, as well as provide post-pregnancy debriefing for patients with unexpected outcomes.

Working with Your OB or Primary Provider

Our practice is based upon a co-management model. To become a patient in our clinic, a referral is placed by your primary care or OB provider. Once our office has received this referral, we will contact you to schedule an appointment. The captain of the ship is always your referring provider, and of course you. Our job is to work with you and your provider to identify and solve problems.

Appointments & Referrals

To see a maternal fetal medicine specialist, call your primary care provider for a referral or message them in the MyUnityPoint patient portal. If you are a referring provider, please print and complete the applicable form and fax it to clinic using the number at the top of the form.

Your First Visit

At your first appointment, we will thoroughly review, understand and develop a plan of care to help manage your pregnancy. Typically, we will also perform a maternal fetal medicine ultrasound.

We share your care plan and ultrasound, and we work in collaboration with your obstetrician. Patients continue regular care with their obstetrician throughout their pregnancy and during delivery.

For some expectant parents, one visit with our clinic is enough. Other pregnant patients, such as individuals with diabetes, may have regular appointments throughout their pregnancy.

Accessible Pregnancy Resource

We are very sensitive to the apprehension families have when they are concerned for an unborn child and the person carrying the baby. An important piece of the service we provide is simply being an accessible resource. If you call the office, unless we are truly in another emergency, we will speak with you right away. Our scheduling is responsive and nimble. We see emergencies the same day, often directly from a provider’s office or at the hospital. Urgent patients are seen within a day or two.

Our team cares deeply for all our patients and providers. We go the distance for everyone we serve. Call Maternal Fetal Medicine in Cedar Rapids today for more information or request a referral from your provider.
