Endocrinology

The endocrinology and diabetes team at Blank Children's Endocrinology, a hospital outpatient department of UnityPoint Health – Des Moines – Iowa Methodist Medical Center, provides education and long-term care for children and teens with Type 1 diabetes (juvenile diabetes), Type 2 diabetes and other endocrine disorders, such as puberty, growth and thyroid disorders. In addition to caring for your child, we believe in helping you learn about endocrine disorder and diabetes symptoms and teaching you how to best manage your child's condition. Our team is experienced in caring for growing children, and your endocrinologist will work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, certified diabetes educators, dietitians and social workers to provide the best treatment possible. We work closely with you and your child's pediatrician to help your child thrive.

Your Child's First Visit

Your child's first visit to the Blank Children's Endocrinology will probably be the longest visit since you may see multiple health care providers. We ask that you arrive 15 to 20 minutes early for your child's appointment to complete the registration process. Please plan to be in the office for two to three hours for most visits.
