Certification Review Course for NCC Exam
- Why certify?
- Certification establishes a nurse’s competency and knowledge in a specialty field. This is an opportunity to be recognized for your expertise! To qualify to take the exam, you must have a minimum of 24 months experience or 2000 hours in your specialty field.
- Literature supports that nurses who are certified respond more quickly in emergencies, detect complications more quickly and initiate early interventions, communicate more effectively, have fewer errors in patient care, have higher patient satisfaction scores, and have lower rates of patient death (Straka et al., Journal of Pediatric Nursing, 2014; Martin, Arenas-Montoya, & Barnett, Journal of Continuing Education, 2015).
- Preparing for the test
- We recommend the following combination to help you prepare for taking the test:
- 1. Buy or borrow these (or similar) books to use as references and for self-study
- Lyndon, A., & Wisner, K. (2021). Fetal Heart Monitoring Principles and Practices 6th Ed., AWHONN
- Miller, L.A., Miller, D.A., & Cypher, R.L. (2022). Mosby’s Pocket Guide to Fetal Monitoring: A Multidisciplinary Approach, 9th ed., Mosby
