Watercolor and Contemplation

Art Therapy sessions are sponsored by Stoddard Cancer Center as part of the Charlie Cutler Healing and Wellness Program. This series is intended for cancer patients and survivors.

Using the wet-on-wet process, we come together with the intention to use color as our source of contemplation. Watercolor invites emotions, calmness, sadness, joy and most importantly wholeness. No experience is necessary with watercolor, we will begin as beginners and invite the color, lines and shades to become mindful of our time with ourselves and others. It is a journey, building color on color, separating with a variety of items to include saran wrap, oil pastel and tape. Please feel free to bring your journal.

Sam Erwin, MS, MA, ATR is an art therapist and spiritual director. She is invited to classrooms, conferences, retreats and small groups as a speaker and facilitator. She presently is contracted with Broadlawns, Iowa Lutheran Hospital and Stoddard Cancer Center for inpatient, outpatient and substance abuse art therapy.
