Biography

Why did you become a provider? My path to becoming a physician assistant was shaped by a personal experience. At 17, I underwent hip surgery and was fortunate to be cared for by a compassionate physician assistant. Their dedication to patient-centered care made me feel seen, heard and valued. This experience inspired me to pursue a career where I could provide similar support and compassion to others during their healthcare journeys.

Why did you decide to join UnityPoint Health? I was inspired by UnityPoint Health's commitment to community health and patient-centered approach. My experiences interacting with the UnityPoint Health team solidified my belief that this organization aligns with my career goals.

What is the most important thind you'd like patients to know about you? My focus is on providing patient-centered care, which means creating a collaborative environment where patients feel respected and involved in their treatment plans.

How would you describe the ideal provider/patient relationship? I believe this means cultivating an open and trusting environment where patients feel heard, respected and empowered to participate in their own care.

What do you like to do in your free time? I'm a bookworm who loves getting lost in independent bookstores. When I'm not immersed in a good book, I enjoy outdoor activities like walking and yoga. Fun fact: I was a dancer in the Super Bowl LII halftime show in 2018.

Do you have any ties to the region: I attended Iowa State University. I spent a lot of holidays and summers in Grinnell, Iowa, visiting my grandparents. Both of my parents are from Iowa and attended college at UNI and Iowa State.

Describe your family: My family, including my parents and two older brothers, resides in Minnesota. Following my graduation from PA school, I relocated to Cedar Rapids to join my boyfriend, who works as an engineer in the area.

Topics you are passionate about: Women's Health, Geriatrics and Parkinson's disease (I did undergraduate research on this topic in the Iowa state neurophysiology lab).

Professional Memberships: American Academy of Physician Associates
