Biography
Why did you become a provider? I became a provider to help people know they don't have to go through tough circumstances alone. Helping people get through tough times can provide a lifetime of happiness.
Why did you decide to join UnityPoint Health? I joined UnityPoint Health because of its presence in the community and its values align with my professional values. Community is important to me, and working for an organization that provides a variety of care to individuals in the community is something I am proud to be a part of.
Describe your typical patient: I work with individuals age six and older who are struggling with difficult life circumstances.
What would your patients say about you? I believe my patients would say I care about people and their goals, and I collaborate with them to help them get to where they want to be.
What is the most important thing to know about you? Therapy is not what people tend to think it is. I work to provide a safe space - one that promotes healing through conversation, accountability and sometimes laughter.
How would you describe an ideal provider/patient relationship? The ideal relationship includes honesty, communication, collaboration and follow-through on both parts.
What do you like to do in your free time? I enjoy listening to music, working out and spending time with mf family. Fun fact: I love to dance; it's good for the soul. I attend community events that work to identify and address the needs of the community - anything with mental health, substance use disorder, opportunities for children to thrive and learn positive ways to resolve conflicts.
Do you have any notable ties to the region? I have worked in the Cedar Rapids community since 2017. It's important to me to build relationships with the community and the people who live in it.
Describe your family: I have six wonderful children and three grandchildren who I enjoy spending quality time with.
