Biography
For Ashley Bennett, PA-C, CLC, each day in her pediatric practice offers an opportunity.
An opportunity to help children develop.
An opportunity to help parents gain confidence and comfort.
An opportunity to make a difference in the world.
“I believe that we all have an innate desire to help people,” says Bennett, who is a member of the provider team at UnityPoint Clinic Pediatrics – Sunnybrook. “As cliché as that may sound, I became a Physician Assistant (PA) to help people in one of the most personal areas of their lives. Whether it be treating an ear infection or ensuring good growth and development at well visits, I am making a difference in the lives of children as they grow from a newborn to a young adult.”
Bennett earned her undergraduate degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Des Moines University, where she served clinical rotations in a number of specialties before settling on an emphasis in Pediatrics. Prior to joining the team at UnityPoint Clinic Pediatrics, she served at a pediatrics practice in Lincoln, Nebraska. Bennett is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
In addition to providing a range of pediatric services, Bennett Is also a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC).
“One of the areas I’m most passionate about is the newborn visits,” she says. “It is one of the most exciting times for a new parent but can also be challenging and overwhelming. As a CLC, I am comfortable providing a little extra guidance for new moms and helping new parents gain confidence and comfort during that newborn phase.”
Bennett says she has one skill that rises above the rest in serving families.
“I am a great listener,” she says. “I want parents and children to be completely comfortable with me and share all of their concerns. In that type of environment, we can be sure that we address everything that is important to them.”
That connection offers an opportunity to deliver the best care possible.
“Each day in medicine is different,” Bennett continues. “Behind each door is a different child with a different need. I am blessed to have the opportunity to knock on that door and help those children feel better and live healthy.”
Bennett is currently accepting new patients. To make an appointment, please call 712-266-2700.
