Biography

Why did you become a provider? I have had a fascination with medicine for as long as I can remember. This, partnered with my passion for healing and caring for others, made the decision to become a healthcare provider an obvious one for me. I want to serve the people in my community and touch the lives of others, one patient at a time, while continuing my quest for knowledge about the human body.

Why did you decide to join UPH? I joined UnityPoint Health because it provides a welcoming environment full of knowledgeable people. I also admire how UnityPoint Health providers encourage patients to take an active role in their own care rather than fully dictating the care a patient receives.

Describe your average patient: I believe I have the ability to care for a wide array of patients. I love caring for the entire spectrum of ages from pediatrics to geriatrics.

What would your patients say about you? Patients tell me I show a strong desire and ability to provide care in a professional yet positive and upbeat way. I aim to spend as much time as possible listening to patients so they feel at ease, and I can give them the proper tools to better their health. It is my goal to ensure we are both on the same page before we finish an appointment.

What is the most important thing to know about you? I want patients to know that one of my greatest joys is having the opportunity to care for them, and it is truly an honor to be a partner on their journey. It is a responsibility I take very seriously, and I truly enjoy the work I do.

How would you describe the ideal provider/patient relationship: To me, the ideal provider patient relationship is one where the provider listens to the patient’s concerns and provides the patient with all relevant information so they can discuss a treatment plan together.

What do you like to do in your free time? I enjoy being outside as much as possible by hiking, kayaking and fishing. When the weather is not so nice, I love to read, watch movies and knit or crochet.

Procedures: Suturing, foreign body removal, injections
