About Paige Owen, PNP

Biography

Why did you become a physician/provider? I became a nurse practitioner to help children. I also find medicine intriguing; it's always changing but research-driven and based on patient outcomes. Every day I learn something new and can convey that knowledge to patients.
What is your medical philosophy? I believe in open and full communication. A provider-patient/parent relationship works best when we understand each other's concerns, objectives and approaches. My goal is to help families both understand my recommendations as well as the reason behind them. My hope is that each child and/or family trusts my care and recommendations while also feeling heard.
Why did you choose your specialty? I became a pediatric nurse practitioner to advocate for children who are not able to communicate their health care needs. I enjoy the light and energy children bring to everyday life. It is special to have a life-long connection and watch your patients grow and evolve.
What qualities best describe the care you provide your patients? Honesty and ethical care are what I provide each family. I promise to care for each child as if they are my own.
Being a healthcare provider, what drives/motivates you each day? The ability to bond with children and families while making a difference medically is ultimately my dream come true. Whether seeing a child for the first or tenth time, being trusted by a family to deliver care makes me grateful and motivates me to continue my career.
What is the most important thing patients should know about you and your practice? Open communication is my approach and what I appreciate in return. I like to follow-up with families when their child is seen with an illness or needing any clarification. Each family is different as is each provider in their approach for caring for a child.
Personal Interests: Being outdoors biking, hiking, walking my dog or going to the playground with my family. I also love to try new restaurants and travel to experience different cultures and food.
