Biography
Why did you become a provider? I became a provider because helping people gives me more meaning to my life.
Why did you decide to join UnityPoint Health - Abbe Center? I started as an intern student here and found I loved working for community mental health. My co-workers and supervisors are another reason why I decided to stay.
Medical Specialties or Special Interests: I'm a proud member of the FERST team. FERST stands for First Episode Recovery Support Team. FERST is a cutting-edge program designed to help people experiencing their first episode of psychosis.
Describe your typical patient: Most of the patients I work with have psychosis.
What would your patients say about you? I believe they would say I'm kind, patient, respectful, trustworthy, professional and have a great sense of humor.
How would you describe the Ideal provider/patient relationship? The ideal relationship is one built on trust and respect.
What do you like to do in your free time: I enjoy hiking, kayaking, traveling, reading and spending time with my family, friends and cat.
Do you have any ties to the area? I grew up in Iowa City.
About your family: My mom is a retired school counselor. She inspired me to pursue my counseling career.
