Biography
Sheba McCants (pronouns: she, her, hers) is a UW Health maternal-fetal medicine physician assistant who provides specialized care for high-risk pregnancies. She collaborates with obstetricians and maternal-fetal specialists, also known as perinatologists, and other specialists to promote the best outcomes for both the pregnant patient and their baby.
Sheba works closely with high-risk patients who have for example: multiple gestation, a history of previous complicated pregnancies, chronic medical conditions that affect pregnancy and unexpected medical issues that arise during pregnancy such as hypertension (high blood pressure), gestational diabetes and cardiac (heart) issues.
It is Sheba's goal to build strong relationships with each patient and create an environment where every patient feels safe and respected. She is committed to serving people from all backgrounds and identities, and celebrating those differences, while delivering healthcare that is equitable and inclusive. She recognizes the impact of systemic and structural inequities on health outcomes and strives to ensure that the health care environment is welcoming and supportive to everyone. Fueled by her own experience as a parent of fraternal twin boys, she acknowledges the wide range of emotions that come along with having a high-risk pregnancy. She seeks to partner with her patients as a source of evidence-based information and nurturing support through every step of the pregnancy and postpartum journey.
