Biography

Why did you become a provider? I went to medical school for pediatrics be an advocate for children and a leader in healthcare.

Why did you join UnityPointHealth? The people - everyone - seemed truly happy and dedicated to providing great care for children.

What are your medical specialties/special interests? Newborn/neonatal care. I also have a special interest in having discussions with families regarding vaccine hesitancy and providing education about the benefits of routine childhood immunizations.

Describe your typical patient: Any and all children, ages 0-18. Reasons for their visits range from routine well child care and checkups to sick visits.

What would your patients say about you? I believe they would say I have a calm demeanor and provide a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere that fosters open communication. I take my time to ensure my patients and their families feel heard and supported.

What is the most important thing patients should know about you? I am here to be an advocate for your child and guide them in all aspects of their health.

How wouldyou describe the ideal provider/patient relationship? A pediatrician should provide knowledge, support and guidance to children and their families, so they feel confident living healthy lives and making decisions regarding their health care.

What do you like to do in your free time? Golf, read, walk and hike with my dog, spend time outdoors, listen to live music. I plan to be actively involved and engaged in the Cedar Rapids community.

What notable ties do you have to the region? I grew up in Dubuque. My in-laws were born and raised in Cedar Rapids.

About your family: My significant other, Jordan, is an Anesthesiologist with Linn County Anesthesiologists. We are thrilled to be back in Iowa after years of training out-of-state.
