Biography

Podcast Episodes Featuring Jen Hutchinson:
Ep. 209 - New Clinician Spotlight: Jen Hutchinson, DNP

Why did you become a provider? I worked as a nurse for a long time in the operating room and various outpatient clinics. I wanted to extend that education to create access to rural health arenas, as well as to advocate for marginalized populations, regardless of gender identity, sexuality, race, culture and age.

As a provider, what is your medical philosophy? I provide a holistic approach to treating patients with both physical and psychiatric needs, using shared decision making. No intervention is effective if a patient/client is not willing or able to participate in it.

What type of care/clinical interests are you most passionate about? I love patients who are in the midst of life transitions - teenagers, retirement age, becoming new parents. Those individuals often have vast needs that slip through the cracks. I will listen and develop a plan to help make their transitions seamless.

Why did you choose your specialty? I recently added psychiatry (certification pending in August 2022) to augment my primary care certification in order to treat whole-person issues. These concepts are so intertwined, and I'm excited to help patients with both.

What qualities best describe the care you provide? Person-centered and individualized.

Being a healthcare provider, what drives/motivates you each day?  People. I genuinely care about people and the care they receive. I am motivated by the diagnostic process, of course, but the person behind the diagnosis is more important to me.

What is the most important thing people should know about you and your practice? I believe fully that each person has something of value in them -- something that can be learned, something that can be taught. I hope to benefit my patients' lives as much as the benefit mine.
