Together For Life

Capital Campaign for Trinity Cancer Center Expansion

“You have cancer.” We’ve all felt the impact of this diagnosis, whether personally or through the struggles of our loved ones. It’s a stark reminder of the challenges faced by those battling this relentless disease.

Since 1977, Trinity Cancer Center has stood as a beacon of hope in our community’s fight against cancer. Trinity Cancer Center embraces the remarkable transformation that occurs when expertise, compassion and innovation meet. However, as cancer rates continue to rise, so does the demand for expert care and resources here in our community.

We’re facing a critical need to expand access to our cancer services, with $14 million required to meet our goal. UnityPoint Health – Trinity has committed $9 million to this goal, and we urgently seek your support for the remaining $5 million.

Together, we can rise to meet this critical challenge by:

  • Addressing today’s increased local demand for cancer care.
  • Expanding access to personalized treatment.
  • Ensuring patients receive the best possible care without leaving home.

The Need

Together for Community

As cancer rates surge in the Quad Cities Region and nationwide, the demand for expert care and additional space grows every day. Our dedicated oncology team has worked tirelessly to meet the increasing need, but we are at capacity.

We Must Act NOW

Increased Cancer Rates

Increased Cancer Rates

  • Cancer is the #2 cause of death in the Quad Cities and is expected to surpass heart disease in the next seven years.
  • The 2021 Quad Cities Community Health Needs Assessment showed cancer incident rates for our region are greater than the national average.
  • By 2050, the CDC predicts a 50% increase in cancer cases.
Trinity Cancer Center is at Capacity

Trinity Cancer Center is at Capacity

  • 37% increase in Hematology/Oncology Clinic patient visits
  • 143% increase in hematology/Oncology infusion visits
  • Two week wait time for a new patient consultation
Close to Home Matters

Close to Home Matters

If Trinity Cancer Center doesn’t expand, patients will need to leave the community for cancer care.

$75,000 is the additional estimated cost incurred by patients who must leave the Quad Cities to get treatment three times a week for nine months.

25% lower risk of death in cancer patients who have higher perceived social connections during treatment.

The Opportunity

Together for Patients

By expanding and improving our Cancer Center infrastructure, services and resources, we aim to improve each and every patient’s experience and outcomes, with:

  • Reduced wait times
  • Highly skilled, local oncology team
  • Latest technology and equipment
  • Rigorous research and innovation

“The quality of care and attention to detail is what sets Trinity apart. Whether I’m passing the receptionist’s desk or waiting in the back for treatment, every single member of the care team passing by me knows me by name and makes me feel at home. To them, I’m more than just a patient – I’m a person.”

What does the expansion include?

  • Additional patient care space to increase capacity and reduce wait time.
  • Streamlined nurse workstations to accommodate additional providers, improve efficiency, and enhance collaboration.
  • Space within the Cancer Center for vital oncology support services to deliver state-of-the-art patient care.
  • Larger patient lobby areas for enhanced patient health, safety, and comfort.
