Our Mission
UnityPoint Health – Des Moines Wellness Services has been providing community and employer wellness solutions in Central Iowa for more than 40 years. Wellness Services extends our mission to “Improve the health of the people and communities we serve” through our collaboration with other health professionals, businesses, public health agencies, schools and the community. This collaboration enables Wellness Services to offer a continuum of care and empowers individuals to be more effective in managing their health and well-being.
Corporate and Community Wellness
Drawing from our rich, hospital-based network of primary care providers and specialists operating in four hospitals and more than 50 clinics in central Iowa, our Wellness Services department can provide seamless, integrated total health programming for employers. Health risk assessments, including blood profile services and biometric screenings, allow employers to identify risk areas of their employee population. Our targeted wellness programming helps at-risk employees eliminate risk factors and improve their well-being. And our Health and Wellness Coaches partner with employees to set goals, improve accountability and attain measurable success.
Wellness Services currently provides a variety of services to employers in the Des Moines metro and surrounding communities.
Our Services
Health Screenings
Our biometric screening components include:
- Blood Profile: finger stick method (5 components lipids + glucose) and/or Venipuncture Method (29 blood and lipid components)
- Blood Pressure
- Height and Waist Circumference Measurement
- Body Composition Analysis: weight, body mass index, body fat percentage & basal metabolic rate
- Coaching Consultation
Online Interactive Portal
Clients of UnityPoint Health – Des Moines Wellness Services gain access to our online interactive portal with comprehensive wellness tools and medical information. Portal and survey options include:
Health Risk Assessment (HRA) Survey
- Evaluates lifestyle factors and health risks of an individual; includes personal health report
- Robust data analytics including aggregate, trending and outcomes reports for employer; providing a roadmap for future initiatives
Corporate Campaigns and Challenges
- Engage all risk levels in healthy behaviors and activities via corporate campaigns, challenges and our engagement portal
- Points program and gamification
Biometric Reports Only: biometric data uploaded to portal includes personal, aggregate, trending and outcomes reports for employer
Biometric Data: uploaded to third-party vendor
Predictive Modeling Analytics Using Claims Data
Group consultation & on-site comprehensive review of HRA elements, general recommendations to address health risks and a one-on-one Q&A session.
Corporate & Community Wellness Services
Blood Services:
- Corporate Blood Services: We offer comprehensive blood paneling to companies or to individual employees.

Educational Presentations and Resources: Includes stress management, mindfulness, strength & resistance, blood pressures, body compositions and more
Flu Vaccinations: Available during administration of health screenings
Health & Wellness Coaching: Wellness coaches partner with employees to set goals, improve accountability and attain measurable success.
