Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic
Our physical therapy and rehabilitation clinic is designed to provide comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation care in one convenient location. Our outpatient clinic is led by rehabilitation physicians, working alongside physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists. We work with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, strokes, amputations, neurological diseases and medically complex traumas. You will receive personalized care from medical experts who are dedicated to transforming lives with new services offered in Central Iowa.

Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy (PT) is the practice of rehabilitation of functional mobility after an illness, injury or disease. Treatments may include gait, balance and transfer training and exercise programs. Physical therapy offers specialty programs for treatment of lymphedema, vestibular (dizziness) issues, pelvic floor issue (bowel, bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic pain) and dry needling.Physical Therapy

Care is coordinated by our physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians. They will complete a comprehensive exam of the musculoskeletal and nervous system to determine the patient’s appropriate level of care with respect to cost, location and specialties needed.

- AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill provides unweighted therapy that allows you to feel lighter so you can exercise without exacerbating an injury.
- Solo-Step Walking Track is an overhead harness system designed to eliminate the fear of falling. It creates a safe environment for balance, strength and gait training.
- Diagnostic Ultrasound and EMG services are available at this site, these procedures allow us to provide comprehensive information to access and treat neuromuscular and muscular systems.
- Electrodiagnostic Medicine records and evaluates electrical activity. We use this to diagnose, evaluate and treat neurologic, neuromuscular and muscular systems.

Care is coordinated by our physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians. - Match needs with equipment options, technology and environmental needs
- Nurse case manager coordinates visit with equipment vendor and therapy staff
- Equipment trial where you have the option to test the recommended equipment, with most advanced options including: ultra-light manual wheelchairs, power-assist for manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs with anterior and posterior tilt, power seat elevation, seat recline, elevating leg rests, etc.
- Decreased time from chair order to delivery, averaging 6 weeks
- Pressure mapping technology measures body surface pressures to ensure proper seating and positioning, maximizing comfort
Evaluations are held at the Younker Rehabilitation Clinic - Iowa Methodist location. We also offer evaluations for existing equipment evaluations.
- Evaluation of gait to maximize gait independence, safety and mobility
- Identification of musculoskeletal and/or neurological conditions impacting gait
- Reduce falls to limit secondary admissions and/or injuries
- Recommendation of assistive devices such as a walker, cane, crutch, or braces
- In-clinic evaluation of vision, cognition, reaction times and problem-solving as it relates to driving a motor vehicle
- Evaluation using an in-clinic car simulator
- On-the-road evaluation of driving performance through park, residential, commercial, and interstate driving skills
- Objective-based recommendations for driving privileges
- Recommendations for adaptive equipment and related driving training
- Coordination with primary care provider and DOT programming
- Physician-led evaluation of needs to ensure most recent technology is available and appropriate to supplement your treatment plan
- Medical clearance and oversight of technology use
- Physician-led evaluation and management of movement disorders
- Physician management of medication related to movement disorder
