Trinity Health Foundation partners with donors like you to ensure access to high-quality health care for patients and families who rely on the compassion and expertise of UnityPoint Health – Trinity, a not-for-profit health care organization. Your generosity supports a standard of excellence in care, innovation and comfort that would not be possible without you.
Our rich history dates back more than 130 years when Trinity's original predecessor hospital, St. Anthony's Hospital in Rock Island, was founded by a group of caring, committed Franciscan Sisters from Little Falls, Minnesota dedicated to providing comprehensive and affordable health care to a growing community.
All funds raised through Trinity Health Foundation support various programs at UnityPoint Health - Trinity. We do not provide direct grants to external organizations. Trinity Health Foundation operates as a not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization and serves as the charitable arm of UnityPoint Health – Trinity.

Mary Macumber Schmidt
Foundation President
Engaging in my community is critically important to me. I enjoy serving on local not-for-profit boards. My most memorable accomplishments include recognition as a Quad Cities Women of Influence and sharing my story of cancer survivorship at “That’s What She Said.” I am a proud mentor and Found(h)er of Lead(h)er, and member of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy and the Quad Cities Planned Giving Council.
My husband, Brian, and I reside in Bettendorf, Iowa with our four legged “girls.” Our sons, Jake and Sam, have successfully launched into the world! Jake is an alumnus of the University of Iowa and resides in St. Paul, MN and Sam is a student at the University of Iowa. We enjoy boating and golfing together. I love to recreate family memories through scrapbooking.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead our talented foundation team. Each member exemplifies a genuine commitment to every donor and Trinity’s mission. It is so rewarding to have the opportunity to meet new people and be entrusted with their time, story, and treasure.”
Colleen Rafferty
Director of Development
Following the example set by my parents, volunteering to make our community better is a priority for me. In support of my passions for behavioral health advocacy and literacy, I’ve served on the boards of directors for UnityPoint Health – Trinity Robert Young Center, the Moline Public Library and the Rock Island Rotary. I was honored to be named the Volunteer Chairperson of the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) Walk, an Athena International Women’s Leadership Award Honoree and a recipient of the YWCA Heart of Gold Award.
My husband, Kevin, and I live in Rock Island with our chocolate lab, Tillie. We’re the proud parents of four grown children – Patrick, who lives in Kansas City with his wife, Hayley, and daughters, Sloane and Maeve; Brendan and Connor, both in Rock Island, and Annie, who is pursuing a degree in Nursing.
“I recognize the growth and economic vitality of our community goes hand-in-hand with the ability to access high quality healthcare, right here at home. The work we do at Trinity Health Foundation helps ensure this is the case today, and for many generations to come. It’s my joy to work with donors who share this passion to build a strong, healthy community for all.”
Randi Rockwell
Associate Director of Development
My first role at Trinity was in Patient Experience, collaborating with team members to continuously improve the care experience for everyone served at Trinity. Whenever someone has an interaction with a healthcare professional, there’s always a feeling of vulnerability. One’s own health is intensely personal yet can feel so unknown at the same time. Everybody needs healthcare, and everyone has a story to share. It’s a beautiful thing to talk with donors, to learn what inspired them to give, and then to see the ripple effect of their generosity and hear about its tremendous impact from patients and their loved ones.
I am proud to live in Rock Island with my husband, our daughter and our three fur-babies. When I’m not at work, you will find me hanging with my family, lifting weights with my friends at the gym or curled up in bed with a book.
Sharon Nash
Foundation Operations Coordinator
I love working with donors to help connect them to their passion, whether that is connecting them with a deserving student for a scholarship or assisting with a fundraising event. There is something magical about a group of people coming together with the sole purpose of raising awareness and funds to improve the health and wellbeing of our community.
My husband, Steve, and I live in Bettendorf and have two adult children, Jackie and Will. In my free time, you will find me antique shopping, working in my garden, crafting or curled up with a good book.
Andrea Otten
Executive Assistant
I spent the previous seven years in healthcare working with insurance and patients in a small medical office. The experience provided a humbling and powerful glimpse into all the needs, financially and otherwise that surround great patient outcomes. I am grateful to be using the skills and experiences I have gained until this point to make a difference.
My husband and I, our two boys, and furry family live in Eldridge. Our favorite thing by far is travel, near or far. Getting to see things firsthand, try different foods and learn new things sparks our spirits.
