Our patient-driven programs and compassionate staff provide a continuum of care for patients and their families that will support them on their journey to recovery, every step of the way.
UnityPoint Clinic Rehabilitation Services - Sunnybrook's physical therapy team uses a one on one approach to help patients re-develop motor skills, functional mobility, strength, balance and sensory processing. Patients recovering from total joint replacement, strokes or other surgeries can utilize exercise facilities both in and out of the hospital with advanced technology, including a weight-supported treadmill.
Our speech language pathologists work with patients to develop speech, language, voice and feeding abilities.
Occupational therapy helps individuals return to their daily routines with increased independence. Our occupational therapists assist with fine and gross motor skills, handwriting, sensory processing and improving strength.
UnityPoint Clinic Rehabilitation Services - Sunnybrook specializes in children’s health and offers all three disciplines of therapy services. We help support the development of your child through pediatric therapy services that can help your child gain the ability to speak, eat and develop gross and fine motor skills and achieve age appropriate milestones through treatment activities such as play, family interaction, and learning.

Vestibular Rehabilitation is a therapeutic program using exercise to help regain the sense of balance. A medical condition called vertigo, or dizziness, is produced when debris from the inner ear is dislodged and accumulated in the posterior canal of the ear. When the head moves, the debris can pull on the tiny hair-like sensors in the ear canal that disturbs our equilibrium. Individuals sometimes describe vertigo as if they are spinning, or their environment is spinning – causing them to feel dizzy. This condition causes you to be at an increased risk for falls and can make it difficult to do normal activities.
Our physical and occupational therapists use special techniques to reduce dizziness and help patients regain normal function. Typically, a therapist will recommend personalized exercises for the patient to do at home on a regular basis, between therapy appointments.
Additional therapy services include:
- Chronic pain therapy
- Hand therapy
- Pelvic floor therapy
