About UnityPoint Health
As an integrated health system, we provide care throughout Iowa, western Illinois and southern Wisconsin in not-for-profit hospitals, clinics and home health settings. Each year, we serve nearly 8 million patient visits of all different types, including around 100,000 surgeries and deliver more than 20,000 babies. Whatever stage of life you’re in, our goal is to make your care easier and more personal.
UnityPoint Health Coordinated Care
Our coordinated care approach means you get the safest and best care possible, no matter where you walk through our doors. Our shared electronic medical record system means any care team with a UnityPoint Health connection has appropriate access to your medical records. Coordinated care also means your primary care doctor is the main player in your health journey. They’ll update other care teams you see across our health system with your medical history, current health needs, as well as your future goals.
As a patient, you can also create a MyUnityPoint account to ensure you have VIP access to your care teams. Our patient portal lets you quickly access test results, schedule appointments and directly message your doctor with questions or concerns.
UnityPoint Health History
In 1993, UnityPoint Health got its start in Des Moines, Iowa, when Iowa Methodist Hospital and Iowa Lutheran Hospital merged to form Iowa Health System. At the time, the merger created the state's largest provider of hospital health services. Until 2013, we were known as Iowa Health System.
UnityPoint Health has grown to encompass major geographic areas across Iowa and in parts of Illinois and Wisconsin. Our health system now includes the former Iowa Health Physicians & Clinics (now UnityPoint Clinic) and Iowa Health Home Care (now UnityPoint at Home and UnityPoint Hospice).
